Your new house has a pre-existing home security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll see that the old owners used a smart home system. All the components work, are hung in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this case, all you might have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer options on upgrades. It's a quick appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make your life easier. If the outgoing residents downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, transferring the Vivint contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You need to move and take your old equipment with you
You might want to bring your existing home security components with you to a new home when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to transfer, as many smart devices are wireless. You can take down each device yourself or use a Vivint installer to take down your devices. Then our installers will hang the same devices -- and any new items you need -- in your new home. The home security contract will keep the same.
